Admissions Overview

MBA@Rice seeks ambitious professionals with a diverse array of experiences, backgrounds and skill sets. With our world-class faculty and rigorous program, you will graduate as a leader equipped to make your bold business ideas come to life.

We offer class start dates four times per year: in January, April, July and October. 

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and we review every piece of each application. This means that we evaluate your candidacy based on a variety of elements in addition to your work experience — including your essays, virtual interview, leadership roles, community involvement and career progression.

The current application fee of $200 is being waived for all applicants.

GMAT/GRE Policy

GMAT or GRE scores from the last five years are required to apply. However, test waivers are available for qualified MBA@Rice applicants. To be considered for a GMAT or GRE waiver, you must have:

  • seven or more years of full-time work experience, or
  • a graduate degree in a quantitative field, or
  • a terminal degree (e.g., MD, JD, PhD), or
  • a quantitatively oriented professional certification, or
  • other standardized test scores demonstrating comparable quantitative ability

Please see our Standardized Test Waiver Policy Page for more information. Applications may be reviewed with unofficial scores, but your official scores must be submitted by the time you start classes.

International Applicant Information

If you are an international applicant who did not earn your degree from an institution where the primary language of instruction was English, you must submit a valid score report from one of the following: Official scores are due by the first day of classes.
