At Rice Business, we value your experience as much as your potential. We seek students who combine strong academic aptitude, quantitative analytical abilities, management potential, and perspective to our online MBA program.
Some of our applicants come with experiences they can leverage in classroom discussions and coursework. That’s why we no longer require the GMAT/GRE for qualified applicants who can demonstrate a high level of quantitative and analytical knowledge. Note that the absence of a standardized test requirement or the receipt of a test waiver does not guarantee admission.
Which applicants can apply without a GMAT/GRE score?
We go beyond test scores to identify which applicants are Rice-ready—looking at previous coursework and grades, professional development and certifications, and past and present job experience.
Candidates who meet one or more of the following qualifications are not required to submit a GMAT/GRE score:
- 3+ years of professional full-time work experience
- Terminal degree of M.D. or Ph.D.
- A master’s degree in a STEM field
- Professional certification of CFA or CPA
- Submitting an Executive Assessment Score at the time of application
A waiver may be considered for other candidates, but you must demonstrate to the committee your ability to handle the rigor of the program by submitting this waiver request. In order to obtain a waiver request form, please contact your admissions counselor for more information.
If you feel your work history or previous coursework is not a good indicator of your readiness for MBA@Rice, we highly encourage you to take the GMAT, GRE or Executive Assessment.
