Admissions Overview

To apply to MBA@Rice, you must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.

We accept applications on a rolling basis and evaluate your candidacy as a package—i.e., based on your essays, virtual interview, leadership roles, community involvement, career progression and test scores as a whole.

The current application fee of $200 is being waived for all applicants.

GMAT or GRE scores from the last five years are required to apply. Applications may be reviewed with unofficial scores, but if you are accepted into the program, your official scores must be submitted by the time you start classes.

GMAT or GRE waivers are available for select applicants. To be considered for a GMAT or GRE waiver, you must have one of the following:

  • seven or more years of full-time work experience
  • a graduate degree in a quantitative field
  • a terminal degree (e.g., M.D., J.D., Ph.D.)
  • a quantitatively oriented professional certification
  • other standardized test scores demonstrating comparable quantitative ability

We also accept SAT and ACT scores in lieu of the GMAT or GRE.

If you do not believe you qualify for a GMAT/GRE waiver or are still debating which test to take, we strongly encourage you to take the Executive Assessment when applying for our program.
