John Buffington

Lecturer in Management – Finance

John Buffington is currently a Senior Forensic Economist at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission and investigates incidents that involve elements of fraud, disruptive trading, market manipulation, or spoofing within the commodity markets. He brings over 25 years of financial practitioner experience to the classroom, having worked on trading floors as a derivative pricing expert, a risk manager, a Big 4 consultant, and a stock broker. He earned a PhD in finance from The University of Alberta, and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and the Boy Scouts.
