Mallika Pung is a Labor Economist for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where she conducts statistical and econometric analyses of systemic employment discrimination cases. Before joining federal service, Mallika served the State of New Mexico as Chief Economist for the Department of Transportation. Prior to that she worked for the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department as a Senior Economist specializing as the state’s income tax expert. Her work with the state government has focused on economic policy analysis, revenue forecasting and fiscal impact analyses. Mallika also visited The Center for Free Enterprise at University of Louisville as an Assistant Professor of Economics from 2016-2018.

Mallika is passionate about teaching and also teaches undergraduate economics courses at the University of New Mexico – Valencia and MBA courses at the University of Mount Olive, North Carolina. Mallika Pung earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Clemson University in 2016, her M.A. in Economics from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India in 2009, and her B.A. in Economics from Delhi University, Delhi, India, in 2007. Her research interests lie in the areas of labor economics, public policy, and international trade.

When not working, Mallika can be found sightseeing the world, hiking, experimenting in the kitchen or just hanging out with her two cats.
